Former Twins pitcher Kenta Maeda has signed a 2-year contract with the Detroit Tigers.
The Los Angeles Angels had interest in signing Maeda this offseason to bolster their rotation.
Maeda returned to the mound last season after undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2021.
He pitched well for the Twins in 2022, recording a 4.23 ERA over 21 starts and 104.1 innings.
There was some concern over his past injury, but the Tigers still signed him.
Maeda spent his first 4 MLB seasons with the LA Dodgers, posting a solid 3.87 ERA.
He then joined the Minnesota Twins before the 2021 season.
While Maeda won't be an Angel now, his signing represents some movement in this offseason's free agent activity.
