Caitlin Clark, a star player for Iowa women's basketball, aimed to make NCAA history on Wednesday night.

She had to score 22 points at Iowa State to reach 3,000 career points.

Clark confidently made a deep 3-pointer with just over six minutes left in the third quarter, reaching a milestone.

The 21-year-old is the 15th women's basketball player to score 3,000 points in the NCAA. She played 110 games to reach that point.

I knew I could do that tonight," Clark told reporters. It's cool, especially doing it here.

Many of my family members are here. As long as we succeed. I wouldn't be happy if I scored 3,000 points but still lost.

I won't play for Iowa again, whether I'm in their uniform next year or not," Clark said in an interview with the Des Moines Register.

This was my final opportunity to do this. It feels nice. I really admire Cyclones coach Bill Fennelly and how he leads his team. He's always been very supportive of me.

The Las Vegas Aces, who won the WNBA championship, also warned Clark about focusing too much on a specific number.
