Coco Gauff had a great year in 2023 and became the highest-paid female athlete.
Women's sports are getting more popular each year, and tennis is one of the top sports.
To understand tennis's position, just check out the list of highest-paid athletes in the world published by Sportico.
The two highest earners are tennis players. Iga Swiatek is not at the top of the list. She is second, with Coco Gauff in first place.
Both of them did really well, of course. Swiatek dominated the WTA Tour and won $9.9 million in prize money.
She got $12 million from endorsements, making the total $21.9 million. Gauff won because of her endorsement deals.
The American made $16 million from them and won $6.6 million in prizes, for a total of $22.7 million.
What's cool about the list is that 7 out of the top 10 highest-paid athletes in the world are tennis players.
There's been a lot of talk about the difference in prize money in tennis, which is a real issue.
However, most of that money could come from endorsements. It's also interesting that Naomi Osaka and Emma Raducanu made the list even though they didn't earn much from prize money.
