Ex Serena Williams' Coach Reveals The Decisive Moment In Coco Gauff's Season

BY Robert j. matthews

Coco Gauff achieved her dream of winning her first Major in front of a supportive crowd at Flushing Meadows.

The young American tennis player had a great summer on the hard courts in North America.

She showed that she is prepared to continue Serena Williams' legacy.

Speaking of Serena Williams, her former coach Rennae Stubbs discussed the young American champion on The Rennae Stubbs Tennis Podcast with Andrea Petkovic.

Stubbs explained that Coco's loss to Sofia Kenin in the first round of Wimbledon 2023 was important for her success during the Summer on the North American hard courts.

Coco's loss at Wimbledon was like Serena's defeat in the first round of the French Open against Virginie Razzano.

I believe this match was a turning point for Serena's career. It also had a similar impact on Coco's career.

Coco had an early exit in the doubles and left the tournament early. She went back to Florida and started training on hard-court.

After Wimbledon, she sought help from Brad Gilbert once his ESPN duties were over.

I think Gilbert helped her realize that her forehand needs some changes. We can handle it by using your strengths, like your fast legs.
