1 cup boiling water 1-2 tablespoons honey, to taste Juice of 1 lemon 2 ounces whiskey, brandy, or rum (optional) 1 cinnamon stick 1 lemon wedge 1 cup strong black tea (optional)
Pour boiling water into a mug or heatproof glass.
Stir in honey and lemon juice until honey dissolves. Add alcohol if using.
Place the cinnamon stick and lemon wedge into the mug. Allow to steep 3-5 minutes.
Remove cinnamon stick and lemon wedge. Stir in black tea if desired.
Enjoy your hot toddy!
For non-alcoholic, use more lemon juice or decaf tea instead of alcohol.
Garnish with extra lemon slices, cinnamon sticks or whole cloves.
Substitute Scotch or green tea for different flavor.
