'It's a tonic': Luke Evans on returning to West End after 15 years in Backstairs Billy

Luke Evans excited to return to West End after 15 years. London at Christmas is unbeatable.

The Welsh-born star is famous for Hollywood films like The Hobbit and Disney's Beauty & The Beast. 

But before that, he gained experience on stage in shows like Rent, Miss Saigon, and Avenue Q.

He's in the comedy-drama Backstairs Billy at the Duke of York's Theatre until January 27 and loving it.

I'm glad to be back. Great play! I'm having a great time playing the butler to Penelope Wilton's Queen Mother.

Laughter is a welcome relief from the troubling news. I enjoy bringing comfort and relief to people, especially during the Christmas season.

Evans is involved with Save the Children's Christmas Jumper Day campaign in the capital on December 7.

He's been a charity ambassador since 2016 and strongly supports their important work. He visited Pune, India to see their education programs.
