San Luis is welcoming back Jardine. He will be coaching América and going up against his fellow countryman Leal.
Leal was Jardine's assistant coach during Brazil's gold medal victory at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and also at Atlético de San Luis.
Jardine became the coach of Atleti during the Clausura 2022 season and led the team to their first-ever quarterfinals.
The team didn't make it to the playoffs by just 1 point in the next season.
However, they did reach the quarterfinals last season but got eliminated by América (4-3 total score). Jardine had a decent 18-14-22 record while in charge in San Luis.
Leal got the post recently when Jardine started working at América. Jardine is going back to San Luis for the second time.
He led the Aguilas to a 1-0 win at the Alfonso Lastras in a Matchday 15 game. Henry Martín scored the only goal in the 32nd minute.
Jardine has had an amazing first season at Club América.
However, they scored one less goal (37) compared to Ortiz's team in the Apertura 2020 season.
América is the only Liga MX team to compete in the last 10 Liguillas, while Atlético de San Luis has only made three appearances.
