Easy Sweet Potato Casserole Recipe

On Thanksgiving, sweet potato casserole is a traditional American side dish. The essential components generally comprise:

  • 3 pounds sweet potatoes, peeled, chopped
  • 8 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1⁄2 cup milk

  • 1⁄4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Place the chopped sweet potatoes in a pot, cover with water, and bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until fork tender, about 15 minutes. Drain then transfer to a large bowl. Mash the sweet potatoes well with a potato masher.

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and set aside.

Stir the melted butter into the mashed sweet potatoes until fully incorporated. Next add the milk, eggs, sugars, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. Blend thoroughly until smooth.
